Best
Gables Memory
My
fondest memories of Gables High would have to be the many activities
involving music of one form or another. Concert chorus went to State
in ā56 and ā57. In 1958 we toured Washington, DC and New York
City with the orchestra. The musicals ā Oklahoma, HMS Pinafore,
aah! Those were the days.
What
Iām Doing Now
Right
now I'm recovering from a 5-level spinal fusion. I was "outsourced"
from my job of 30 years at the end of 2005 and I'm still looking for
meaningful employment.
Special
Events In My Life
After
graduation, and on Friday the 13th, joined U.S. Marines with a group
from our graduating class. Spent most of 10 years in the Corps
working in one form of military intelligence or another. Had some
pretty exciting times, none of which I can share with you. The last
few months of my time in the Corps was spent in the Viet Nam war. I
came home in May of 1968 and married my childhood dream girl. That
dream turned into a nightmare and ended very soon. Went to work at
Eastern Airlines in the Reservations Computer center at the airport
using some of the skills I had picked up while working at National
Security Agency. Married a girl I met there, Claire, who is from
Jacksonville, FL. When the airline began showing signs of failure, I
resigned and moved to Jacksonville.
My fondest memories of life
have to be the births of our two sons, Douglas and Edmund. Doug is a
teacher in the Duval County public school system. He teaches Physics
and Chemistry. Ed was one of the first, if not the first, civil
engineers to graduate from the University of North Florida. He is
employed at the Army Corps of Engineers and is based at Clarksville,
Tennessee. I'm REALLY proud of both the boys' accomplishments.
